How not to translate

Can you make head or tail out of this translation of Steve Jobs' quote in Kumudam Magazine?

Anyone reading it in Tamil without knowing much about Steve Jobs will be confused as to what it means. The entire article is a mishmash of translation from various obituaries in international media.

The original quote:

"It's in Apple's DNA that technology alone is not enough. It's technology married with liberal arts, married with the humanities, that yields the results that make our hearts sing."

marry = திருமணம் is meaning less in this context. It makes Steve Jobs sound like a marriage broker. இணைத்தல் would have been a better word.

Liberal Arts = சுதந்திரமான கலைகள்? So do we have அடிமை கலைகள் too?

Humanities = மனித நேயம்? Isn't the writer confusing humane with humanities?

May be the joke is on me. Nobody reads an article in Kumudam, it is meant only for visual entertainment.
