Watching Joker

I would have liked this film if the heroes were Chhota Bheem and gang, plus it was made for TV. But even then it would have been the dullest of the series. Don’t tell me it is a children’s movie just because it is straighter than most Akshay Kumar comedies. I am sure kids would dress up better for a fancy dress competition than the aliens in Joker.

Akshay definitely puts in an earnest performance – but the script is so stupid, and jokes so flat that he cannot save it. Shreyas Talpade does something wonderful with Golmal inspired gag, but the character – like the whole script – is underwritten. I am not sure why Sonakshi Sinha and Minisha Lamba were hired at all – Chitrangda Singh does the needful in a single song.

Shirish Kunder is getting worse with each of his films – Jaan-e-mann, Tees Maar Khan and now Joker. I think, it is about time he goes back to editing, though I suppose he won’t be any good at that anymore. With Farah Kham there, I thought they would at least get the look right, but no! Unintentionally unfunny. At least it is not unwatchable like recent Akshay comedies - but that is setting the standard too low.
