Secret # 1- Be True to Yourself
|
Lets start this discussion with the idea of death. What will you do- if you were told that you are going to die by the end of this week?
You might have many things to reckon or regret.
Will you go and tell your crush that you like him? Will you go for that long due trip you planned? Will you spend all the remaining time with your family?
There is a long list of things you might like to do.
Did you find anything in common in the given list?
It is- doing things that makes you live your life- the way you want.
Read on- to know more about the Five Secrets
# 1 Be True to Yourself"The greatest tragedy in Life is to spend your whole life fishing only to discover that it was not fish you were after"- Henry David ThoreauWhile interviewing people, Izzo discovered that what separates those who live well and die happy from most of us- is that they keep on asking themselves- if they are living a life they wanted to live.
So, how can you be true to yourself? The author suggests three questions that you can ask yourself.
# Am I following my heart and being true to myself?
# Is my life focused on the things that really matter to me?
# Am I being the person I want to be in the world?
You need to ask yourself, if you are "good tired" at the end of the day.
Izzo's grandfather described "good tired"as days when you focus on things that really mattered to you. On contrast "bad tired" days are the one in which it looks like that you are winning, but you realize that you are not being true to yourself.
A StoryHere is a story that author offers. It might help you to reflect over these questions.
Bob's father had been a respected anesthesiologist, and when Bob was in his twenties, the hospital had a celebration for his father's 20,000th anesthesiology procedure. On the way back from the party, Bob asked his father what it was like to celebrate all those years of being a physician. His father replied: " I would rather have been an accountant. You know son, what I enjoyed most about being a doctor was keeping my own books". Can you let this be the case with you? 1
0-20 yrs down the line, would you regret being what you are? What does following your heart requires?Courage and Discipline.
Can you endure rough weather and go on while following your heart? In case your answer is yes. This post was for you.
I will cover the remaining four secrets in my coming posts. Given that I had a "bad tired day" today.
