Various activists/ individuals and organizations are working over raising the voice on this issue. Dr. G. D. Agarwal observed his fast, Swami Nigamanad died while protest and many more.
Dr. Bharat Jhunjhunwala is a well known writer and activist who alongwith other social challenges, working on this mission. But recently some people attacked on him in Uttarakhand while he was there to raise his voice for the common people and sustainable future. It was primarily observed that there are hands of contractors and big corporates who never want to stop the construction works along river and thus they only try to divert the attention of public from the basic issue of sustainability by giving them employment in these dangerous dam constrictions.
At the time when we all are dreaming for a better, safe, sustaianable and peaceful society, these incidents make us ashamed. At present, there are many such constrictions are in progress. Either it is Ganga, or Chenab or any river else, natural resources are facing the problems of exploitation by human. Moreover, we are not authorized to exploit natural resources because future generations also have a right on those. There is a much need of such activists, individuals and organizations who can fight with these issues without fear. Dr. jhunjhunwala has shown such courage to protest against such false developments.
We all, who are working in various parts of India, hereby join our hands together to condemn the attack on Dr. Bharat Jhunjhunwala.
