The Indian story is incomplete without insurgency. The India's rise coupled with internal rebellion yet many Indian does not know about these stark realities. The discontent against the state among the masses run high. The recent showdown at Ramlila Maidan is a case. The citizens almost lost faith on system. People came out in support of Anna Hazare's fast unto death. This shows the frustration of people.
Yesterday at The Hindu's Lit for life
programme, Sachin Pilot said that "if people lose faith in system than nation can not move ahead" now the condition has become more volatile. People are losing faith in system.
The rise of insurgency is directly proportional to misgovernance. The authors support this proposition with numerous example. Like absence of hospital, school, roads, electricity and so on. Authors writes " the world largest communist insurgency, the world's oldest running ethnic insurgency, one of the world's most complex
islamist insurgency. welcome to India"
India inherited these problem since its birth except Communist insurgency but lately India has begotten this baby by her own conducts.
The Maoist ideology spread like forest fire among many downtrodden people. The Maoist believed in violence and rebuked the non-violence edifice of India. Maoist embraced the idea of rebellion to change social order.
Once Dr. Manmohan Singh
had quoted victor Hugo in parliament " no power on earth can stop the idea whose time has come"
the idea of rebellion took off from naxalbari and spread its wings over major part of India.
Authors writes "
Naxalite movement is hardly the biggest threat to India"
but Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh
reiterated that Naxalism is biggest internal threat to our internal security. Naxalism problem can not be contained by green hunt. The governments should instill confidence among people and this is a social problem and social remedies needed rather than force assault.
Book has three parts each devoted each insurgency.
Kashmir section has got less space than Naxalism and North-East insurgency found space less than the Kashmir.
Kashmir problem has reached to such an extent that no one knows how to arrive at solution.
Book is good read and written in journalistic pattern.
