Do you have a favorite quote from a book?
“It was inevitable: the scent of bitter almonds always reminded him of the fate of unrequited love.” This is my favourite quote from any book ever. I read "Love in the time of Cholera" when I was 18 and it blew my mind. I have never been the kind of person to remember quoted from books. There are times when I find certain lines that are extremely poignant or speak to me in some way and I jot them down. And then I promptly proceed to forget the same. But these have always haunted my mind. This is also the opening line of Marquez' book and somehow it has always stuck me as one of the most unlikely opening lines that any book could ever have. The line somehow sets the tone for the entire book. Its like the entire theme of the book has been wrapped into one single sentence and handed to you at the very beginning. From this line on the book goes to show the pangs of a love unfulfilled.

Even now, every time I see this book somewhere these line automatically come to my lips. Every time someone mentions something about unrequited love, these lines run through my mind. There have been other lines from poems and such that I do remember once in a while but nothing has run through my head quite like this particular line. :)
