The Queen was Overthrown

Her flag torn to shreds, Her effigy thrown to flames,
Paraded, celebrated, amidst dark fumes,
Putrid and toxic. Only the queen bled,
And only the queen burnt
In fumes noxious only
To her flaming carcass.
And here she is again,
Foolishly, wishfully,
Handing the erring
Torch back to the
Delinquent.
Hoping,
Maybe
Maybe.
Her diminished remains shall be spared
This time.
