Looking at Cafe Delhi Heights at the Ambience Mall in Gurgaon, I really had no expectations. So, yet another Mocha type overpriced cafe. What's new?
What's new is the food. Which is awesome!!
Decor: Kitschy, colourful and youth oriented
Cuisine: Eccelectic fast food with a gourmet twist
Service: Always with a smile
Pricing: More restaurant than cafe
The menu:
A whole page for pizzas and for burgers, some Indian street food like vada pav, golgappas (made with a gourmet twist, of course) and a reasonable selection of healthy main courses. They have a nice breakfast menu too, with eggs benedict (my favourite) made their way (not my favourite).
A sureshot dish to order would be their Gambas al Ajillo, which is a prawn dish cooked in garlic and white wine with saffron butter.
They have the usual suspects in the beverages section, but the rich and super delicious shakes are the real stars. The Apricot Walnut Shake comes highly recommended.
The best part (for me!) in their alcohol selection was Hoegaarden! Very few places stock this amazing refreshing beer and Delhi Heights have it in both bottle and draught (Tip: Always go for the draught).
The desserts are also pretty good, though not really out of the box. You know, the chocolatey cakes and berry cheesecakes. Nothing spectacular there. They all taste pretty alright though.
We had a Grilled Salmon in butter lemon sauce, which was cooked to perfection with a beautiful side of crunchy veggies.
I also ordered a Juicy Lucy burger. When it arrived, my jaw dropped! It was HUGE!! And then I took a bite and it was perfectly juicy, the bread was super soft and the seasoning was just right. Ah! Heaven. Came with an awesome side of crisp-on-the-outside but fluffy-on-the-inside fries.
The pricing is not exactly "cafe". More like upscale restaurant. It's really a dinner/lunch out, rather than a rest stop cafe-like place. The music was odd (80's hiphop mixed with some house and trance) and WAY LOUD!!!

The photographer, a serious food critic, also ate there and here's what he had to say:
" for the first time in my life i thot of throwing up so i cud eat some more!!"
And that right there is the best recommendation for a restaurant.
They are on the 3rd floor of Ambience Mall in Gurgaon and at GL-121-123, Ist Floor, Cross Point, DLF Phase-4, Gurgaon.
