Author : Debolina Raja Gupta      Blog :Product Reviews      Date: 6/7/2012 10:31:00 AM

I just got a hamper from the Pond's PR team, with the new Pond's White Beauty Cream with revolutionary GenWhite Formula (pic below). First lets go through what the company has to say about the product:

Everyone's skin is different and there are many factors that affect one's skin, like genetics, health, hormones, the sun, environment etc. But according to Pond's, the most important factor affecting skin colour is one's genes. And it is here that the GenWhite formula created by POND'S comes in.

So what is GenWhite? According to the company, the GenWhite Formula consists of components like Vitamin B3, 12-HSA, Vitamin E, Allantoin, Optics and SPF.
Certain benefits of GenWhite (as per the company):
Works deeply to lighten, brighten, fade dark spots.
Prevents discoloration before it begins.
Decreases transfer of dark pigment to the skin surface.
Prevents darkening at source.

POND'S has created this unique cream, which they claim is the World's First Vanishing Cream, with:
Superior SPF 20 protection
Superior UVA Protection (PA++)
Superior Optics Package
Superior Sensory
Inspired by gene research and clinically proven
POND's White Beauty Day Cream with GenActiv Formula, adapts to your skin to lighten skin from within, fade dark spots from the source, and evens skin tone for spot-less complexion in just 07 days.
It is the world's first non-oily matte-cream with sunscreen systems. With SPF 20 and PA++, it protects against UVB and UVA rays.
How To Use:
Use every morning as part of your daily skin care regime
Apply a small amount on cleansed skin

Now here are my thoughts:
The first look of the packaging is extremely pleasing. As you can see from the picture above, the cream is packaged in a very feminine pink container, not too pink, not a garish pink, but a kind of darker baby pink than usual with a little sheen. I won't say shiny, its more of a sheen.

The jar has a regular lid with an inner plastic covering (the smallest one in the pic above), which prevents the cream from spilling.

As you can see in the pic above, the cream is quite thick and though it seems that this is a used jar, it was a fresh piece. A lot of the cream was also on the inner plastic covering I told you about.

Now here are the pros and cons:
Pros:
I immediately loved the fragrance of the cream. Nothing strong or fruity or too  flowery, its a light scent that lingers beautifully. As you may have read in my posts earlier, I absolutely do not like fruity scents or fragrances that are too strong, whether its a cream or a perfume.
The cream is very very light and does not sit too heavily on your skin.
I applied it over my sunscreen (I tan too easily so didn't want to take a risk) and it did not make me break out in a sweat (I generally tend to sweat a lot on my forehead when I apply creams).
The cream is completely non-oily and non-greasy.
I needed a very small amount for the entire face.
I applied it after my shower and did not need moisturiser.
The pricing is at par with other brands in the market today. This jar is of 50g for INR 249.00

Cons:
I am still to find something about this product that I can write here. As of now I don't find anything that I do not like about it. I am not much for whiteness creams, I do not believe in skin-lightening creams, I do not want anything like that, and this product is not something I bought, it was sent to me by the PR. But what I do like about this is that it says it can help work on spots and help them to fade and go away. I have good skin without any spots or breakouts, but as I have sensitive skin and am very prone to tanning, the area around my eyes tends to get a little dark. I hope this cream can help that one concern.

PRICING:
50g for INR 249; 35g for INR 140; 25g for INR 80; 9g for INR 10.
