the week in review

Author : karthick r      Blog :/* karthick's blogspace */      Date: 6/1/2012 5:54:00 PM

There were three news items which hurt me the most in the past few weeks.
  • KKR winning IPL and Poonam stripping naked.
  • KP retiring from ODIs and T20s to concentrate on test cricket. ;-)
  • Poonam stripping naked when KKR won and more importantly, she didn’t strip when CSK won. Yess'u ra, I was deeply hurt by this. :(
Hello! Hello! People who've already seen the pic – stop imagining and people who haven't - Google for the pic after reading this boss. I spent one hour to write this. Sit tight and focus boss. Cheer up! Come on!

Now, the outrage in detail

KKR laid hands on their maiden IPL trophy and Poonam Pandey stripped naked as a gesture, appreciating the men in black and gold. I mean, WTF is this man.? Since the inception of the glamour filled IPL, CSK have never failed to make a mark.

In the first few seasons, they let their game do the talking. Raina/Hayden did the hitting, M.Vijay/Bravo did the dancing, Bollinger/Ashwin/Morkel did the bowling, Dhoni did the keeping and the rest of the team did the watching. When their game dropped below par in the recent seasons, they somehow figured out other ways to stay in the hunt. N.Srini did the *ixing.. ;-)

Since I am writing about IPL, I would like to take a 1 minute strategic time out.

5...4...3...2...1....
Blaring noises....

Amidst all the chaos and glamour they even managed to win the trophy twice. Where was Poonam Pandey? I mean, where was she? This is totally unacceptable. Especially, from someone who has always supported sports with open .. err.. You karbonn-kamal-catch my point right.

Some see this act by Poonam, as a publicity stunt backed by SRK to boost KKR's image. I mean, isnt't it enough that KKR has SRK who knows how to hog the limelight?

I mean, he needn't go to the extent of stripping and all. Now, I wonder, will people be interested if he… Aaahh..Forget about it. I guess I have reached my DLF maximum limit. I was about to cross the line. #youSeeWhatIDidThere *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge*

Did you see? He did a cartwheel at the end of the match? What if CSK/RCB won the match? You don’t see Mr.Mallaya/Mr.N.Srini doing a cartwheel right?

Show off fellow man, he is. Transparency and unbiased behaviour is the need of the hour

KP announced his retirement from ODIs and T20s so that he can concentrate on his test career.
My first reaction to this – Are you kidding me? He is Kevin Fucking Pietersen. Dai, he is the one who tries the switch hit every other ball. This is mega Irony only.
What surprised me the most is the fact that he turned down the offer to play in the IPL. Not willing to represent England – I can agree. Let’s face it. ECB is no BCCI and England is no India. Here, even people like Ravindra Jadeja get sold like hot bajjis. Don't even get me started on the Kohlis an Dhonis.
And the reason that he stated – ODIs and T20s are physically demanding while he played only a paltry 13 matches in 2011. Funny! No?

Initially, I thought that KP would come back with a statement "Naaku koncham mental. Chumma da, I was just kidding". That dint happen.
I also thought that, "May be, he might have got pissed with the teams when they started complaining about his switch hit".
So, I was expecting a retracting statement once the ICC legalized the switch hit [Link]. Even that dint happen. Now, I have no other options than to share my disappointment with you people. :(

I would love to talk at length about Vishwanthan Anand and his WC victory [Link]. But to be honest, I don’t know squat about Chess. I mean, I know about chess in I-Will-Play-If-I-Have-Nothing-Else-to-do kindá way and I follow Chess and related news in a will-follow-if-i-have-nothing-else-to-read kindá way but feeling proud? Aah! Sorry man.

How could she do that? Tchah! I have never met a woman with such double standards.
Before I leave,

What you have witnessed today is a tharally professional writing........Its only fair to thank our sponsors .......

If you are KKR fan, I apologise. I apologise for all the so-called-haste against your team. The rest of you, I expect you to take this utter disappointment with a pinch of salt and masala.
Hang in there fellas. Our time will come. HUM HONGE KAAMYAAB :D

~ cheers.!
