Tomar ghorey boshot korey koy jona : Bangla sings and I paint

Author : Sreetama Ray      Blog :Home Studio and Lola      Date: 5/21/2012 4:50:00 PM

This abstract came to me from one of my favourite Bengali folk songs, "Tomar ghorey boshot korey koy jona...". Roughly translated the lyrics say, "do you know how many people really live in your heart? Someone is sitting in one corner of the giant room that is your heart and painting a beautiful picture, while someone else is smearing himself with the colours in your heart...."

Bloom, available as prints and stretched canvases .
My store now has free shipping this whole week, till Sunday :)

I first heard this song in college, when I was introduced to the Bangladeshi band, Bangla and their albums, Nokol Chini and Kingkortobbobimurho. The wonderful voice of Anuseh Anadil and the beautiful lyrics have stayed with me for all these years.

Anusheh, who is the lead singer of the group, also works at this awesome Bangladeshi handicraft/kitsch store, called JATRA.
They have beautiful clothes, home decor and little nick knacks. The colours blew me away!

Handcrafted tea tray and pots

How badly do I want the blue tie-dye cushion!

Coasters with original art

They also have an awesome clothing and accessories collection
