The contrast. That's what she said she remembers. She explained how she was made to live in the room which had this contrast which seemed to teasing, almost. She was made to sit in that room all day, with nothing but a slate and a few colour chalks. They demanded all they long. They ordered her to draw, for she had the power . Her hands had the grasp of an angel.
The thing which she was asked to draw was something which she never really saw. It was the dream which she never really had. The Gold was not part of what she saw, it was the allure of the dark which had tricked her into it. Her dreams were a little too real, she would have later said. She would wake up scared, face stained with tears, unable to recollect what has transpired she would shed a few more of those tears and sleep again only to wake up to find something terrible had happened.
The sky growled the day she was born. Many wise people said, stars are generous tonight. This is a omen. Good or bad? No one knew. A little later she was born. Tara! She was named Tara. There were Oh's and Ah's everywhere. She was a beautiful child. Eyes were like bright stones. Sparkling yet not fully aware. With time people came to know that this stony eyed child had something special. They were scared. So scared were these little ignorant fools that they threw her out. To be on her own. Destined for only for 16 years of life was she? No. There were things that she had to achieve and live for. So she lived.
Shuffling of feet, a little whisper here and a little cry there. Tara woke up in a room with four white walls. Alone, she was scared. She heard a few people, felt their presence. She kicked to know where she was, but didn't take long to realize that she was constrained. Unable to move, she slipped into the world of thoughts, not dreams, mind you. Thoughts.
She was pulled out of her slumber by a loud, rather disrespectful voice calling, Get up you! Draw!
She was disoriented. But she understood what the voice was asking. 'I know one day my gift would drive me to hell!' she had said. Involuntarily she sat up, when slate and the chalks were shoved into her arms. Prophecy she had made had brought her to hell.(To be continued..)
