after a long time, i am making a film again. A documentary for an organisation, a Maharashtra government body which gives loans to disabled people to start their own businesses. I am documenting their success stories all over Maharashtra. I have got the ball rolling on this project only after struggling a bit. This has proven to be a very fascinating experience for me, the travel in all the parts of Maharashtra, in rural areas, where I havent been before. Damn exciting for me. The money isnt that great, but two things i really love- travelling and directing are the perks in this case and therefore, its great for me.
The all jholamajholadoobledoo, i.e all the incessant brain-gnawing problems related to editing and conversion of the video et all have begun. God has given them a green signal to shower upon me and I am having my hands full with them. I shot the videos in HDV, a format that i hadnt shot in before and its a disaster till now. I grabbed the footage very innocently in Mac, in FCP and then i cant read the files in mov in my hard disk and premiere pro CS4. after consulting a lot of people- editors and websites, i got a step further but it only proved to be a mirage that my problems are closer to getting solved. My premiere was reading the files that i converted into mpeg-2 (.m2v)format, but today morning again they refise to get recognised and cant be imported. Before this, i was just juggling with the issue of getting the audio as the audio files were egtting converted separately in .wav through Avanti software.
I had got a good forum for the solution in

Its a damn good forum, but just as another person had mentioned some problems related to audio in the forum, i was having the same. Now i am looking for a codec for mov and mpeg2 online for and have found it on

The thing is editors have told me a very simple solution but an expensive one, that is grabbing the footage again in my laptop using premiere pro, but from my meagre budget, i dont have much money to spend now additionally. Therefore, the tale continues for me.
Lets see how it goes. I am struggling nonetheless with all these issues, i am very familiar with phases like these and tear-inducing, back-wrecking days that you spend trying to resolve, but i know i am going to solve them and get on with my editing which i am determined to finish pretty fast.
