ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਚ ਅਸਲੀ ਅਲੋਚਨਾ ਲੱਗਭਗ ਅਲੋਪ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਹੈ। ਅਲੋਚਕ ਡਾਕਟਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਪੱਕੀਆਂ ਨੌਕਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਚੜੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਪੱਕੀ ਤਨਖਾਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਖਾਤੇ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਬਾਕੀ ਰਹਿ ਗਈ ਜੈ-ਜੈ ਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਦੀ ਪੂਰਤੀ ਲਈ, ਉਹ ਚਾਰ ਕੁ ਚੁਣੇ ਹੋਏ ਲੇਖਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਲੋਚਨਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਿੱਠ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਫੇਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਨਾਲੇ ਸਵਾਦ ਲੈ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਨਾਲੇ ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਪੇਪਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਹਊਮੇ ਦੇ ਢਿੱਗ ਉੱਚੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਅਲੋਚਨਾ ਦਮ ਘੁਟ ਕੇ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਬਚਨ ਹੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਅਲੋਚਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਲਹਾਲ ਦੇ ਅੰਕ 17 ਵਾਲਾ ਸੰਪਾਦਕੀ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਅਸਲ ਅਲੋਚਨਾ ਦੇ ਮੁੜ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਬੱਝਦੀ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਬਚਨ ਨੇ ਥੋੜ੍ਹੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਸਾ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀ ਅਲੋਚਨਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਸ ਲੇਖ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਤੁਲਿਤ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰਬਚਨ ਇਹ ਸਵਾਲ ਲੇਖਿਕਾ ਅੱਗੇ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸਨੇ ਬਿਰਤਾਂਤ ਤੋਂ ਪਰਾਂ ਖੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਨਾਵਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਇਹੀ ਸਵਾਲ ਉਸਦੇ ਮੁਹਰੇ ਵੀ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਲੋਚਨਾ ਲਿਖਣ ਵੇਲੇ ਗੁਰਬਚਨ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਅਲੋਚਨਾ ਤੋਂ ਕਿੰਨਾਂ ਪਰਾਂ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੈ। ਉਂਝ ਮਾਰਕੀਟਿੰਗ ਸਟੈਟਰਜੀ ਤਹਿਤ ਕਿਸੇ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਦੀ ਹਵਾ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਰਹੇ ਧੜੇ ਦੀ ਧੜੇਬੰਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਠੱਪਣਾ ਵੀ ਲਾਜ਼ਮੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਸ ਚੱਕਰ ਵਿਚ ਅਲੋਚਨਾ ਮਾਧਿਅਮ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ ਧੜਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਵੈਸੇ ਧੜੇਬੰਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਤੋੜਨ ਲਈ 'ਗੁਰਬਚਨ' ਬਣਨਾ ਹੀ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਫਿਰ ਵੀ ਇਹ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਲੋਚਨਾ ਰਚਨਾ ਦੀ ਘੋਖ ਲਈ ਹੋਵੇ ਨਾ ਕਿ ਅਲੋਚਨਾ ਲਈ...

My association with Amrita,started with my posting to Ludhiana,as ASP in June 1997.She used to be regular in calling me up,when i became SP/City there.This association continued as i moved out of Ludhiana,to do other districts.I still remember,she making a very early morning call to me,during my tenure in Patiala,asking for me to inaugurate a run in Baradari area.
Our association,became deeper,as i came back to head Ludhiana police in 2006.Here,her knowledge of my temperament,enabled here to play the role of a mediator,in those situations where the Ludhiana police was accused of going overboard.
I can never forget the constructive role played by her,in diffusing the situation arising out of the agitation by veternerary students of PAU.
She had lot of faith in God,and may her soul rest in peace.
