'Earlier I used to believe that reservation for certain communities is there to remove economic backwardness. The idea rallied a stream of thoughts converging to a question : how can be economic backwardness be equated with social backwardness? Today, I have no qualm in accepting that the notion was a little premature and reservation do make some sense. Thanks to some people with strong credentials and journals of repute. Reservation, as a matter of fact, was never there to bring a s(...)'

'Govt can defend itself on 2G case, Commonwealth fiasco and inflation issues. Well, pro-Nazis defended holocaust as well. Not making an analogy, still a point. And to folks on the other way, 'change' is not always good. See what happened in Middle East and Cuba in name of 'Change'. If change has to come, it needs strong shoulders... not weak cripple hands dirtier than the antagonists.I guess we need to take politics a little more seriously.... FB/Twitter/Blogger can be a medium (...)'

'“No internet is anarchy.”Can’t agree more. Take out the cable and world is more pre-historic than the time of Spartans.“Slow internet is injurious to health of device bearing the burden.”This anonymous quote can be well attributed to me. I have never seen anyone banging mouse or keypad of laptop harder than yours truly. Somehow, both my laptop and mobile survived my barbarism. Now everyone would assume that the contrary to fore mentioned axiom will hold good as well. Well, that’s my(...)'

'I don't know how to drive a bike. So, obviously, I am short of tales on long drives. At best, I can talk about the breezy ride from Mangalore to Payyanur via Bekal. But I have already documented it. Bikes always reminds me of my friend Siddharth. One gem of a person. He was one person you can blindly trust. A true 2AM friend. He had a thing for bikes. That will be an understatement. Bikes are his true passion. Blood passion, if there is a metaphor like this. From first year of colle(...)'

'That was a sweet little morning. She held my hands with so much confidence. A moist feel of touch lingered on my cheeks. Her love and affection had only me in locus. For a moment I forgot everything and could have given up everything material for such moments. Truth they say, daughters are so adorable.'

'While Hritik’s adaptation of Vijay Deenanath Chavan impressed critics and masses, it polarized opinions on net. Some people who watched the older version for the first time in recent times due to curiosity developed by the remake, were not able to figure out why the ’90 flop is so much lauded by cine-pundits. It lacks a streamline flow in story, it is full of clichés and surprisingly, boasts of loud performances. It bombed on silver screen when it was released and along with some ot(...)'

'Seven bankrupt guys decide to go to Goa on a New Year Weekend for a cheap bash sounds like an oxymoron. Well, getting up at 4 a.m. and catching the train at 6:20 for a pain-in-my-bum kind of trip on a Saturday made no sense either. Train reached Madagaon at two and after an array of jumping into auto and pushed into bus kind of experiences, we managed to reach Panjim at 4.Panjim is frozen in time. Its capital of Goa but has no airport, no railway station and a shabby bus bay. In mod(...)'

'We tend to put labels on people. Its kind of Nazi tradition. Hitler took liberty and labeled all Jews as anti-German, put them in concentration camps in the name of cultural cleansening and committed one of the biggest genocide. Stalin, allegedly, killed many millions just for the sake of communism. What an irony, communism is supposed to be for people and not against people. We do stereotype. In our movies, all south Indians have a funny accent and four states seem to be one singula(...)'

'Chetan Bhagat’s latest contribution to Indian English Literature fails to impress you… I am not able to think what UTV Think Tank was smoking when they bought the rights for making a film about it.Even if we can ignore the factual mistakes in the book (I belong to the place the story is woven around), the imagination of writer fails to make a point. Unlike his previous outings, the story lacks firsthand experience or the déjà-vu feel. It seems that the research done in his work neve(...)'

'I looked at her. It was my moment. I wanted to propose her. I went down on my knees and said, “Rhea… you complete me.” She turned pink. Her eyes were moist. She said, “shut up… you had me at ‘hello’.” We hugged. We kissed. Minutes later, I realized something. “By the way, when did I say ‘hello’?” I asked to take a little dig on her.She wiped her nose on my shirt and mumbled, “Two years back, when we met at Mysore.”***Flash Fiction. Not a personal experience***'

'This was a little tricky one. Reason, I saw the recipe on TLC but forgot the procedure. So, I did a little experimentation which, thankfully, didn't bomb.Take 2-3 eggs, little milk (100 ml), 3-4 Table spoon of sugar/jaggery/honey and about 100 gms of flour (take wheat). Put all this and little cardamom and black pepper (only for flavor) in a mixer and mix it till you can notice little air bubbles in the mix. You can also add little water/milk if you are not very sure with (...)'

'I like cooking. It not only makes my tummy happy, it relaxes my nerves as well. Moreover, some good ideas come in my mind when I cook. So, cooking, for me, is a delightful deal. For last few weeks I have been trying a particular dish I saw on TLC and added little variations as well.Take a packet of spaghetti and boil it. While boiling add a few drops of oil and some salt. Not in a frying pan, add some refined oil (I prefer sesame). Let it heat. When it’s boiling hot, add lots of cho(...)'

'Watch any movie just after 2001: A Space Odyssey and its highly unlikely that you will find it slow paced. Though a little short of three hours, I didn't found Mausam as slow as its made out to be. However, Mausam is definitely lengthy which is pretty understandable because the canvas selected was too big. Mausam worked for me to some extent as I wanted it to be a soft slow love story which can its own leisure time to grow on me. Having said all this, the overall experience was a li(...)'

'When I read the story of Comrade Duch of Combodia who was held responsible for more than 16k executions, I was literally tongue-tied. For next few days, I kept thinking about it. On day four, when I had a fair idea, I shared it with Arun. That moment, Itaanu Uttaram came into existence. A story that carried a snippet about Comrade Duch and his Pastor.Presenting a movie is perhaps the most difficult part and our biggest handicap was lack of resources and money, sometimes the former, (...)'
