'There is no particular reason I am writing this post. And so, it is just a nameless post! Just that I was sharing some funny incidents with my mom, one incident that happened with me, was quite fresh in my memory. Well, as funny as it appears and sounds now, it was not for sure, at that time. Lessons learned:It is ok to agree with someone’s tastes, opinions and perspective of life, although they may not concur with yours at all. By being too honest, you ought to get ostracized more (...)'

';;;It has been scorching ever since I came for my short break in my home town. Considering that Bharuch is a port it has that unlikely combination of dry and humid weather. If there was a term that could define both conditions existing at the same time and acting totally independent of each other, enlighten me. And coming to think of Summers, I share a love-hate relationship with it. And somewhere, my love for mangoes surpasses my hate for its sweltering heat. Despite its warm morni(...)'

Why? Why? Why? ~ Self talk

'There are good and bad days. When days are good, there is a lot of sunshine, there is a lot of laughter and there is a lot of fun and romance. And then, there are those days when dark clouds camouflage the Sun behind their thick sheath of layers. There is thunder and lightning and what follows is a never ending gush of rains. It is like a sudden transition that changes the atmosphere without a warning. There is some gloom, unsaid words and unfinished arguments. And when things are u(...)'

Socially 'high'? ~ To be or not to be

Author : Narayani Karthik      Blog : Swimming in an ocean of thoughts.....      Date : 4/18/2013 3:28:00 AM

'When I was small, I loved watching movies that had church weddings where the bride and the groom clink their wine glasses and share it with each other after exchanging their wedding vows. The bride is usually dressed in a beautiful white flowing gown and the groom in a well tailored suit. The bride looks ravishing and the groom, every bit the bride’s knight in shining armour. Well, now when I think of those scenes, I really don’t know whether it was the dark wine(...)'

Have you felt the child in you? ~ Joys of Motherhood

Author : Narayani Karthik      Blog : Swimming in an ocean of thoughts.....      Date : 4/18/2013 3:19:00 AM

'I always thought I am incapable of entertaining small kids because I cannot do the cooing and googlybooglying little children. Even today, as a mother of an almost two toddler, I can’t. But I can play a lot. Like, playing with my son is a full time job that I love to do. Suddenly, I become his playmate and mind well, when I become his playmate, I am a toddler as per him. We play hide and seek. We snatch each other’s toys and I enjoy seeing him cry, get angry, bang his tiny hand(...)'

What is it with Bournvita? ~ Child in me

Author : Narayani Karthik      Blog : Swimming in an ocean of thoughts.....      Date : 4/15/2013 5:10:00 PM

'If I were asked about the list of things I remember enjoying when I was small, small in the sense a time I don’t remember how small I was, the first thing that comes to my mind is my mother bringing me a glass of Bournvita. Aah! The aroma used to be so unique, so soothing and so enticing that it was the lone good thing about rising up early for school. The way my mother makes it, I have never been able to replicate the proportions of sugar and Bournvita. Of course, now when I fix (...)'

'Days are passing at a moderate pace. I love the early mornings. There is so much freshness and optimism about this time of the day. After a few prayers I listen to Vishnu Sahasranamam as I do my Yoga and a few exercises. There is so much power in these mantras that one doesn't feel any fatigue. It just keeps feeding you with infinite energy and stamina. As the day progresses, time does dull me a little bit. With a double vision that will take its own sweet time t(...)'

'Listening to music is the best form of busting stress or at least it helps you confine your space and let  you be just yourself. We all love to listen to music of some or the other kind. Some of us love hard beats whereas some of us love the soft one. Some love instruments and some love their own singing (which is a very lovely thing). Some love devotional songs and then there are some who love silence. Well, coming to think of it, silence is also a music. It has a note of its(...)'

Morning musings and some fleeting thoughts ~ one fine day

Author : Narayani Karthik      Blog : Swimming in an ocean of thoughts.....      Date : 4/3/2013 3:37:00 AM

'It is a windy morning today. The pipal tree on the back of our home has been shedding off all the dried leaves on our terrace. My son has developed a hobby of collecting them and stacking them in a box. I don’t question why because I know it gives him certain pleasure in picking out the full shaped leaves and tearing them exactly into half along the mid line. (mind well, he discards leaves with holes). At least the activity keeps him busy. And for the winds, I don’t know what they a(...)'

'29th March 2013:As I am sitting and typing away to glory, I know it will take me a while to resume a normal life. I still have double vision. My right eye is still not moving the way it should. But the doctor has assured me, that it will go away in some time, though not instantly. But he said, I can attempt to lead a life that need not be stressful. '24th March 2013: 4 cycles of plasma pherasis were over. The final one was due. It took longer than the usual. I came out of the dialysis unit after 5 hours of pain, breathlessness and unstable blood pressure. But then don’t they say, all is well that ends well. There were some moments of relief. The riles tube was removed. And when I saw the length of the tube that was inserted nasally, I almost staggered. My father had to hold on to something lest he fell. Thankfully, my mothe(...)'

Author : Narayani Karthik      Blog : Swimming in an ocean of thoughts.....      Date : 3/30/2013 1:50:00 AM

'21st March 2013:Every day for me was a lesson in disguise. It was teaching me something or the other. I was wondering what this day was to teach me about. And the news came, that no more plasma would be given to me because of the episode of the day before. So, now what? Nothing was clear. As such the plasma dialysis cycles were to be completed and each cycle happened on an alternate day. Besides, getting plasma for my blood group was becoming difficult. So the question was, “what ne(...)'

Author : Narayani Karthik      Blog : Swimming in an ocean of thoughts.....      Date : 3/30/2013 1:42:00 AM

'20th March 2013:The second cycle of plasma dialysis was more painful than before. It took around four hours. Atleast, I was mentally prepared for the body weakness that was to follow. As the plasma units flowed into my body, I felt my system slowly coming back to normal. And then as the last unit of plasma was being injected, something happened. There was a clot in my IV and the plasma refused to go into my system. As the nurses tried pushing it by injecting air pressure, suddenl(...)'

'12th March 2013: And it all started with the MRI scan. I had only heard about it, rather studied about it in school days. Little did I know, I was going to experience the strongest form of magnetic rays pass through my body to show abnormalities if any. With my husband by my side, I was in the MRI room for an hour or so. The same day, a nerve conductive study was also conducted on me, where electrodes are placed at the primary nerve points to check if there is any lapse in the ner(...)'

'11th March 2013: As I entered the hospital premises of Rajshree Hospitals Indore, with my world, I waited impatiently for the doctor to arrive. With time, my impatience was building up. I wanted to hear the words, “It’s nothing. Just a sore throat gone awry. It will be treated within a week of medication.” My turn came at 12 and I explained everything to the doctor by action and in writing. He examined me, checked my nerve points, and examined my throat and eyes. The words that ca(...)'

Author : Narayani Karthik      Blog : Swimming in an ocean of thoughts.....      Date : 3/29/2013 2:44:00 PM

'8th March 2013 -  10th March:Sometimes, what can cause an acute pain can be painless. And that painless feeling is scary, scarier than the normal infections and fever. Because the discomfort, the pain, the ptehelplessness can be felt by none but the patient. After visiting the second ENT in Mhow, who too felt my problem was purely psychological, my inner self forewarned me of something creepy. I for one, knew that something was terribly wrong with me. My husband too, who knew t(...)'
