yet another wonderful post, Sudha!!! i didnt know any of these stories, probably because we hired one of the guides there instead of the audio guide. dont even remember if they had audio guides there then. and that concept of sacrifice seems to have been a common factor then. we heard a similar story at kumbhalgarh too.. as to the story of the satis, well, its always a sad one.. btw, have i ever told u that there was a sati in our family too? if not, remind me to tell u the next tim(...)

finally, at least one place i can say happily that i hadnt heard of, when i visited Jodhpur, for the simple reason that it didnt exist when i visited :D but it looks like such a beautiful place... but what an effort!!! these guys must be commended!!!! and cant even imagine what kind of talent and patience it must take, to tap out each rock and rid it of the weeds!!! wow!!! absolutely unimaginable! and i can so see the geologist in you getting all excited with the aqueduct.... wish i(...)

what a lovely story... i wonder what happened to that girl the diwan wanted to marry!!!! and did the diwan try to find them? was he successful? how did all of them simply manage to disappear so soon? and more than everything else... doesnt the curse work anymore? didnt it strike those who stole its wealth, doesnt it work on all those people who are having that mela at such a place? i never even heard of this place when i visited jaisalmer.. but that was such a long time ago, before(...)

wonderful, Sudha! !trust you to notice something like this in a museum.... which just shows that, no matter where a museum is, or how good, there is always something interesting to see!!! about the sculpture, wow!!! wonderful representation.... its great to see him as a human, as a king, instead of a god!

wonderful post, Sudha! Had been looking forward to this one, since I hadnt even heard of this place before.... i guess its ur geology background which alerted you to its presence, and the next time i am there, will surely go.... coming back to the post, i guess yes, the experience would have been more about sadness than of disappointment.... that we can not even preserve something so wonderful and special.... whether it is natural wonders like these or beautiful sculptures, we need (...)
